Russell champions the mobile channel for Google, communicating with publishers, developers and advertisers throughout the world. Previously, Russell was an early employee of AdMob, before it was acquired by Google in 2010. He has been in mobile marketing since 2000 and has subsequently been involved in thousands of campaigns. Before that he spent many years in marketing on both the agency and clientside. Russell is a previous Global Chairman of the Mobile Marketing Association, a founder of Mobile Monday in Germany and is a prolific writer about all things mobile.
I started AdMob in Europe (I was actually the first employee in the world), which has been acquired by Google for $750 million. Currently, we've served over 200 billion ads in our first 48 months and advertisers have over 18 Billion pages available per month in 160 countries [NB this goes out of date so quickly, but it's accurate as of May 2010]. So if you're interested in a highly effective mobile marketing channel OR if you have a mobile website or App you'd like to monetise, check us out.
AdMob is an advertising network that serves ads on our partners' websites and in Apps when they are viewed with a mobile phone. We run a variety of formats and payment models, including CPC text banners, CPM graphical banners and our highly successful iPhone units.
My other role is Global Chairman Emeritus of the Mobile Marketing Association, which represents over 750 members worldwide, via 4 Regional Boards. The MMA is going from strength to strength and I'm enjoying being involved in leading the industry forward.
